Beef Cattle Herd Health
The Beef Cattle Program focuses on herd health and production for California’s extensive beef cattle industry that includes cow-calf, stocker operations and feedlots. The program focuses on research and extension related to the prevention of beef cattle production limiting diseases and promoting animal health and well-being for large and small-scale beef cattle production systems. Other areas of focus include anti-microbial stewardship, microbial and pre-harvest food-safety, nutrition and production efficiency, reproduction, animal welfare and sustainable practices.
